RCM musicians perform avant-garde piano music from early 20th-century Russia, which both inspired and was inspired by revolutionary poets. Interspersed with readings by students from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, we hear defiant pieces from two young musical rebels, Prokofiev and Shostakovich, and the turbulent work Medtner’s friends nicknamed the 'war sonata'.
