Anna-Liisa Bezrodny joins the Philharmonia Orchestra for Bruch’s glorious Violin Concerto No. 1, one of the most romantic works in the concerto repertoire. With the rest of the concert featuring the dreamy Adagio from Khachaturian’s music to Spartacus, Tchaikovsky’s heart-rending overture to the ballet Romeo and Juliet and Bizet’s passionate and dramatic Suite from Carmen, this really is a very special way to spend a Valentine’s afternoon.
The Philharmonia orchestra regrets to announce that Jennifer Pike is indisposed and unable to perform at this concert. The Orchestra is most grateful to Anna-Liisa Bezrodny who has agreed at extremely short notice to perform the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 in her place. In the second half of the concert, the Dvořák Romance will be replaced by a purely orchestral item: Schubert's Rosamunde, Ballet music No. 2. The rest of the programme is unchanged.
Please note this concert is not available on subscription.
