Providing a creative platform to share memories and experiences, the Philharmonia’s unique intergenerational Bedford-based community music collaboration, Hear and Now, continues in 2015. Led by renowned music education specialist and composer Tim Steiner and supported by Philharmonia musicians, participants from the Tibbs Dementia Foundation's Music 4 Memory, a singing group for people living with dementia and their carers, and Fusion Youth Singing, a teenage vocal and instrumental group, will take part in a number of creative music workshops to produce new, original work. They will be joined by the North Bedfordshire Youth Chamber Orchestra, Da Capo String Ensemble (a group for adult beginners and re-learners) and members of the Philharmonia Orchestra for this very special celebratory performance. This is the first time that the project is brought to London.
“Being involved with Hear and Now has given me hope. If I can be part of this I think I can do anything.” Member of Music 4 Memory who lives with dementia
Hear and Now is co-produced with Orchestras Live and presented in partnership with Fusion Youth Singing and the Tibbs Dementia Foundation’s Music 4 Memory. The project is made possible due to the generous support of the following organisations: The Assessment Network, Mrs B L Robinson’s Charitable Trust, NADFAS, Orchestras Live, The Steel Charitable Trust and The Wixamtree Trust.
