Autumn-Winter 2008/09
Dutoit Tour November 2008

Click here to book tickets online at the Southbank Centre website, or telephone the Ticket Office on 0871 663 2515.

Despite the infamous riots at its 1913 première, The Rite of Spring is now regarded as one of the most significant and influential works of the twentieth century. The piece represents paganism, brutal passions and human sacrifice, dismissing all preconceptions of beauty and harmony. In contrast the concert also includes Chopin’s poetic First Piano Concerto which marks the UK concerto début of the sensational young pianist Rafal Blechacz, who won the International Chopin Contest in Warsaw 2005.
