Seen by many as the culmination of his symphonic style, Brahms’s Fourth Symphony is an orchestral masterpiece, packed full of huge and intoxicating melodic ideas. Its finale, a massive passacaglia, has the same air of finality as Beethoven’s Ninth, the piece concluding with a sense of momentous spirituality. The performance will also see world-renowned violinist Vadim Repin perform Bruch's Violin Concerto, arguably the composer's best-known work, and one which offers a blend of soaring Romantic melodies and exhilarating drama.
The Orchestra encore piece was Beethoven's Egmont Overture
