Also this evening :
Fabio Luisi conducts Mozart and Schubert
A chance to catch up on the work of one of the most prominent new Japanese composers whose music, contrary to his ironically titled marimba solo, says a great deal. In fact wood still says nothing is strong, urgently communicative and unrelentingly energetic. The second work in the programme is more reflective, demonstrating Gondai's magical sense of atmosphere created from the simplest elements of harmony, texture and clear vocal lines.
