Philharmonia Orchestra Applications
Welcome to the application process for the Philharmonia Orchestra. Please read the following carefully before registering.
You will be able to log in to your profile as many times as you like, but once you have applied for a position you will not be able to edit it again until the application process for that position has ended, so do make sure that you review your application carefully before submitting. Once we receive your application form, you will receive an automated response confirming your submission. Your application will then be reviewed by the Philharmonia audition panel and you will be informed of the outcome as soon as they have come to a decision. Please be patient with this process.
There are three possible outcomes to your application. You may be offered an immediate trial, an audition, or your application will be rejected. If you are invited for an audition, you will be informed of the date, location, and repertoire you are requested to prepare on confirmation that you have been offered an audition. Successful trialists will be notified separately.
An audition for the Philharmonia usually lasts approximately 10-15 minutes for a Rank & File position, with numbered and Principal positions usually lasting longer. You will be required to perform prepared repertoire with an accompanist, followed by the orchestral excerpts for a panel of a minimum of two members of the Philharmonia. You may also be presented with a short sight reading test. You will receive the outcome of your audition up to a week following your audition. Please note that this format can vary at the discretion of the panel members and is by no means standard.
We do not accept applications in any format other than through this online form, and late applications will not be accepted once the closing date has passed.
