Sophie has performed regularly as a soloist and chamber musician from a very young age. An early highlight was a solo concerto for HRH Princess Margaret when she was just seven years old at the Grange School, Hartford as well as a performance for HRH Prince Charles at Chetham's School of Music 2002. More recently Sophie performed a recital at Wigmore Hall as part of the Razumovsky Academy.
Sophie has performed as leader of the RNCM Symphony Orchestra and with her trio at RNCM Chamber Music Festivals. Further highlights at the college include winning the RNCM Paganini Prize and RNCM Salon Prize, a concerto performance of Waxman's Carmen Fantasy with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra and was a recent recipient of the RNCM's prestigious Gold Medal Award.
Sophie’s experience of major international violin competitions began in 2003 where she reached the Semi Final of the Junior Wieniawski International Violin Competition. Further success followed where she took part in the Strings Final of BBC Young Musician of the Year, 2006. More recently in October 2008 Sophie won first prize in the prestigious Lions European Music Competition in Cannes in which she represented the UK amongst eighteen different countries. She was also recently selected to travel to New Zealand as a semi finalist of the Michael Hill International violin competition in May 2009.
Sophie has also taken part in many masterclasses with eminent musicians such as Ivry Gitlis, Oleh Krysa, Zvi Zeitlin, Atis Bankas, Mauricio Fuks, Gordon Back, Don Suk Kang , Yuri Torchinsky, Sarah Chang, Gabor Takas-Nagy.
Sophie’s studies have been kindly supported by several award foundations including the London Philharmonia Martin Music Scholarship, the Manchester Graucob Award, the High Sheriff of Cheshire’s Prize for Music, and was awarded the Musicians Benevolent Fund Ian Fleming Charitable Trust award this year. Sophie was also selected by the RNCM to receive a ‘Leverhulme Scholarship’, awarded to students in their first year of Undergraduate study.
Sophie is currently preparing for the Lions Global Music Competition this July where she will travel to Sydney to take part in the international stage of the competition as a European stage winner.
