More recently in October 2008 Sophie won first prize in the prestigious Lions European Music Competition in Cannes in which she represented the UK amongst eighteen different countries. She was also recently selected to travel to New Zealand as a semi finalist of the Michael Hill International violin competition in May 2009.

Sophie has also taken part in many masterclasses with eminent musicians such as Ivry Gitlis, Oleh Krysa, Zvi Zeitlin, Atis Bankas, Mauricio Fuks, Gordon Back, Don Suk Kang , Yuri Torchinsky, Sarah Chang, Gabor Takas-Nagy.

Sophie’s studies have been kindly supported by several award foundations including the London Philharmonia Martin Music Scholarship, the Manchester Graucob Award, the High Sheriff of Cheshire’s Prize for Music, and was awarded the Musicians Benevolent Fund Ian Fleming Charitable Trust award this year. Sophie was also selected by the RNCM to receive a ‘Leverhulme Scholarship’, awarded to students in their first year of Undergraduate study.
